MOFFETT VINEYARD - ESTATE
The 1991 growing season started with a very wet spring and
cool early summer months. The bud set was good and it looked
like a healthy size crop. The later part of the summer warmed
up nicely and stayed pretty consistent. Due to the crop size
and the mild summer, the 1991 growing season turned out to
be one of the longest in the history of the Napa Valley. The
fruit ripened evenly and the quality of the juice was one
of the best weve seen in quite a few years. The Moffett
Vineyard was harvested on October 21st and 22nd.
Aromas of ripe blackberries are highlighted with a touch of
anise and chocolate. The wine has herbaceous notes of tea
supported by toasty oak. On the palate the flavors are of
lush blackberry fruit with soft but dense grape and barrel
tannins. This combination gives the wine both a pleasing intensity
and a graceful finish.
